Mind Media Awards. Wait... What?
WHAT IS HAPPENING?!?!?!?!?!!?!
I woke up this morning planning to a share a very different story with you, when I noticed I had several notifications on Twitter that said “congratulations”. WHAT
Genuinely confused, I logged on to see the news that I am Shortlisted for ‘Digital Champion’ in this year’s Mind Media Awards. EXCUSE ME, WHAT
Upon checking my email I can confirm that yes, I am shortlisted for the awards. Yes, I will be attending and yes, LAST YEAR PRINCE HARRY WAS THERE
AGAIN WHAT IS HAPPENING
WHAT IS HAPPENING
I get to go to an awards ceremony? Me? The girl whose dress split open at her work’s Christmas party? The girl who accidentally called someone a fuckling on Twitter? The girl who loses her mind when Matt Haig RT’s her #SelfCareTogether project? (subtle plug there, check it out)
Obviously I am both thrilled and overwhelmed by this news.
I thought this blog was only going to be for me and maybe some friends and family would read it and now this? It’s so amazing.
I’ve been crying all morning because I had such a horrible horrible time before I started this blog and learned that there are so many people out in the world who are supporting each other through the toughest of times. I started because I was recovering from PTSD post-abuse and now it’s so much more than that to me and to so many of you and
I CAN’T STOP THINKING HOW PROUD MY MUM WOULD BE
And this amazing thing has happened to me and it’s all thanks to you and the people who support me.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
(also, I hope I don’t meet Stephen Fry because I imagine I’ll just vomit on him. that would be everything though.)
- a special mention to Gill, Sarah, my Auntie Clare and Dad for supporting me through some of my worst times and literally BEING LIGHT when everything else was going dark. I love you. I’m so happy to share this moment with each of you. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you. Get your frocks out.
