AD | I have to make room for my wellbeing in every aspect of my life. As a self employed person, it’s especially important that I balance productivity with my mental health and don’t push myself into burnout. For me, that means investing in myself and using a portion of my income to make my life a little easier.
Because of this, I’m always on the lookout for affordable resources that can help make blogging easier and more enjoyable for me. I genuinely love creating content. I also love art. But I simply don’t have the energy or time to output the amount of images I’d need to create in order to keep up with how many posts I like to write. It would be days of extra work for me.
Art is mindful for me. It’s reflective and peaceful and calming. It helps me focus on myself, my thoughts and my feelings. Writing is more of an outlet. A way to get my thoughts down on paper, whether it’s a deeply emotional and personal article about mental health or an impulsive and exciting look into a topic that brings me joy.
Affordable graphics for your blog
Design Bundle has a huge library of affordable images, graphics, templates and fonts that you can buy (as well as some free options to download) and use on your blog, in your graphics, while designing products for sale and for arts and crafts.
Living in the countryside has inspired me to add a whole load of cottagecore themed content to my site and I’m finding more and more peace in nature inspired art and learning about the wildlife and agriculture that surrounds our new cottage home.
There’s plenty of cute botanical, woodland and celestial themed graphics to keep me inspired and take the pressure off, for times when I need to write, but don’t have the creative energy for art.
I spent a long time browsing the floral svg (scaleable vector graphic) category and have to say I was impressed by the wide range of styles and different kinds of art on offer. They have everything from simple clip art style images to full blown watercolours.
I ended up settling on some cute mushie graphics, which I’m so excited to use, but I was also tempted by the vast range of different animals they had to offer like foxes and badgers and sheep! They even have a section for chicken svg – how bloody cute!
Finding images for your blog
While I do sometimes include my own illustrations on my website, like the birds in my blog header, I mostly rely on stock imagery to add a visual element to my posts. I’ve never been able to afford to pay to unlock the huge paid collections of stock photos that are out there, but I do like the exclusivity that comes with paid options, so I’m mega excited whenever I find more affordable collections!
A lot of the designers featured on the site are independent artists so there’s a huge range of goodies that you can browse through, including scalable vectors, many of which are Cricut compatible, for those of you who are lucky enough to own one.
Freeing up illustration time has meant I can spend more time working on other things, like learning about SEO, writing or simply making space in my life to binge watch My Mum Tracey Beaker.
Anyway, if you can afford to purchase things that make your life as a blogger, artist, business owner or designer a little easier, you should. It’s all about balance and life is way too short to overload your to do list with things you can outsource. What a great way to support an artist, a business and yourself all at once!

Design Bundles definitely comes in handy. I used some of their fonts for Christmas cards and gift tags after I decided to make my own rather than purchase this year. My plan is to turn 2020’s Christmas cards into gift tags but as so many other things – they are great ideas and go on the to do list but probably won’t happen until the last minute just because I seem to be juggling so many other things lol. I’ll get there in the end and hopefully it’ll get some more life out of them rather than recycling.
