Meet my January Advertisers (and check out their content!)

AD | Happy New Year! I hope you’re feeling hopeful (or at least neutral) about 2021. Last year was so difficult, this year I wish nothing but peace and happiness to all of you.

Welcome to my first “Meet my advertisers” post. Each month I’m going to be opening up my blog to other content creators, giving them the opportunity to advertise on my site and letting me share some awesome content with you. Thank you to each and every one of you for choosing to advertise to me, it really means the absolute world.

I’m super excited about all of this month’s advertisers, so please head over to their content and check out their work!

Treat Yo Brain!

First up is Treat Yo Brain, mental health blog and website, now managed by the wonderful Jayc Martin. Jayc has been advocating for mental health awareness for 4 years now and has taken over Treat Yo Brain with the goal of educating people about mental health and advocating for those living with mental illness. What an awesome mission!

You can read Jayc’s story to learn more about him or read this awesome post about practising mindfulness for mental health.

Glitter Brain

Liz from Glitter Brain is on a lifelong quest to learn as much as she can about ADHD and how to live harmoniously with it. Luckily for everyone else, she shares tips, resources and her own personal journey on her blog. Glitter brain is jam packed full of educational content about ADHD and wellness.

Some recent posts include this helpful posts about establishing routines (I know I really need to start getting better at this) and, my personal favourite, A brief guide to self-introspection. I learned so much from Glitter Brain, and I know you will too!

House of Hyde

House of Hyde is the latest endeavour of Lifestyle blogger, Billie Geena, and I’m so excited to be able to include it on my site. During the pandemic, Billie started to direct her creative energy into making macramé homewares and the cutest earrings and they’re just gorgeous.

Seriously, if you want to support an independent business (and great gal) in 2021, keep an eye on this business. I can’t wait to see it grow!!!

The Girl with OCD

Another amazing mental health blog, the Girl with OCD, focuses on the author’s journey with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. The Girl with OCD is personal, relatable and compelling as Keets shares her experiences and feelings to try to get things of her chest.

You should definitely check out her positive end of year post where she rounds up her 2020 achievements and her raw piece about her toxic relationship with OCD. I really hope you’ll send some love her way!

Perks of Being a Procrastinator

Next up is the witty Naveesha of Perks of Being a Procrastinator who describes herself as a typical twenty something millennial just trying to “find herself.” Naveesha blogs about beauty, travel and shares her perspective (and rants) on topics that interest her. She’s fluent in sarcasm and her blog is sure to make you laugh.

Read her post about how much she’s yearning to get back to the airport here or her top picks on keeping entertained during lockdown here (couldn’t be more relevant than it is right now!)

My Goddess Complex

My Goddess Complex is an inclusive, independently run online publication that celebrates culture, fashion, art, music and identity. They’re dedicated to sharing the nuanced perspectives of diverse creatives, specifically women and people of colour. They’re also always looking for contributors (and will be paying a small fee as of Jan 2021), so keep an eye out for their calls for pitches.

Their content is awesome, they’re definitely a publication you should keep an eye on in the coming year. Check out their series on Black British women pioneers, this one is is about Britain’s first Black woman book publisher, Margaret Busby OBE or this round up of their favourite albums from 2020.

Life of Morag

Life of Morag is a wonderful blog by Morag Forbes, who uses the blog to document thoughts, feelings and real life moments. Her blog is a refreshing place that feels authentic and filter free (something we all desperately need right now!) and she opens up about really tough topics like hospital stays and unexpected life turns and uncertainty.

Two posts I think you should be reading are what to pack for hospital and this piece on her experience of anxiety. Morag told me that she’s planning to grow her blog in 2021, I think it would be so ace if we could cheer her on and watch her thrive!

Lisa’s Notebook

Lisa is a friendly, positive and knowledgeable blogger who enjoys researching and writing about a huge range of topics. On her blog, you’ll find bits about gardening, family, travel, wellbeing, food & drink and more. I just love her blog in general tbh, it’s one you could really get lost in for hours – there’s SO MUCH content!!!

She describes herself as a “keen but clueless gardener” and I really loved her December garden diary, it really inspired me to get outside and start pottering about in my own (we recently moved and I really need to get cracking!). Another post you should read is 10 fun staycation ideas inspired by the movies.

Frankly Kiersten

Based in Dallas, GA, Kiersten is a lifestyle blogger, youtuber and photo and video editor who writes about and reviews subscription boxes, beauty products and nail varnishes (among other things). I love reading reviews before I decide where to spend my money and it’s great to have a handful of trusted bloggers I can depend on to help me out.

Recently she’s been reviewing nail polishes including “No justice, No peace”, of which was created to support the Black Lives Matter movement. 100% of the proceeds go to the Colorado Freedom Fund. I also saw that she had recently reviewed a jewellery subscription box, which I didn’t know existed until I saw it, but is such a cool idea!

Planning with Em

Last up in my January advertisers is bullet journal and productivity focused blogger, Planning with Em. Bullet journaling is such an awesome and flexible way of getting yourself into the habit of planning, organising and tracking your progress – it can really be what you want it to be. Planning with Em is such a great place to go to be inspired and motivated to get started.

Her blog is jam packed with great ideas like this post of great things to track in your bullet journal and I also love that she’s mental health positive and puts and emphasis on only doing what you can manage that removes the pressure of perfection. Read about why imperfect bullet journaling works here.

Well, that’s it! My first ever advertiser post for bloggers. Perhaps the nicest thing, for me, about writing this post was setting aside some time to explore people’s content – something I want to do a lot more of in 2021.

It would mean the absolute world to me if you could show them all love and support. I hope you found some great new content to read, I know I did!
